Americans go grocery shopping in numbers not seen in decades

Almost 63 percent of all food and beverages bought in the U.S. in March happened at stores, according to U.S. Census Bureau data. That’s the highest percentage of purchases made for at-home consumption since 1996. The percentages of food eaten at home and out were equally split at the beginning of 2020.
