Are bike lanes good for retail?

The studies alluded to in this article didn’t correlate increased business due to the addition of bike lanes. All of the studies emphatically stated that bike lanes were part of infrastructure improvements because of growing demographics in the area, which resulted in increased business not attributable to the bike lane infrastructure investment. Any sound study will emphasize the necessity of ample parking on retail viability, bike lanes themselves don’t add capacity but should be accommodated as another alternative transportation mode, albeit still significantly smaller than car traffic in the greater US.
