Brewers experiment with alternatives to six-pack rings

September 3, 2019

Anheuser-Busch InBev, Carlsberg and Molson Coors are testing new packaging methods in efforts to eliminate the plastic rings that hold six-packs together. The rings, which have been tied to the deaths of sea animals, are a major environmental pollutant. Carlsberg, which is testing glue to keep cans together, thinks its can eliminate up to 1,200 tons of plastic annually if it can come up with a viable alternative to rings.
