Chinese e-tailer to use drones to deliver payloads weighing a ton

JD.com, the second largest online retailer in China behind Alibaba, is developing heavy-duty drones capable of delivering shipments of goods weighing a ton or more. The e-tailer plans to deploy the drones in remote areas of China to move large shipments that would take long periods of time to deliver using ground transportation.
