Congress may investigate Amazon’s deal for Whole Foods

U.S. Rep. David Cicilline (D-RI) has written a letter to the chairman of the House Judiciary Committee asking that it hold hearings on Amazon’s proposed acquisition of Whole Foods. The Congressman said the deal raises questions of whether the acquisition will reduce competition in the marketplace and if current antitrust laws are sufficient to deal with new realities in the marketplace.
