Dollar Tree’s holiday quarter disappoints

Some analysts had speculated that chains like Dollar Tree would see an immediate bump in sales as its low-income customer base spent more in expectation that they would benefit from changes in the U.S. tax code. That theory didn’t seem to hold during its fourth quarter, however, as the company — which owns Family Dollar in addition to its namesake chain — posted lower-than-expected sales growth.
