Equifax hack exposes data on millions of Americans

Equifax, the credit reporting agency, reported that hackers gained access to personal data affecting up to 143 million Americans. Data believed to have been compromised included birth dates, home addresses and Social Security numbers. The breach, which began in May, was not discovered until July.
