Concerns about Fred’s ability to compete after it acquires 865 Rite Aid stores is the reason the Federal Trade Commission (FTC) has not approved Walgreens’ acquisition of its rival drugstore chain. Now, according to the New York Post, prominent investors have approached Fred’s about investing in its business, which could clear the way for FTC approval.
