Synthetically grown diamonds may resemble diamonds mined from the Earth, but they are not the same from a chemical standpoint and may be less durable, according to the Federal Trade Commission. The government agency has sent a letter to eight jewelry companies warning them not to use the word “diamond” in their marketing and sales efforts.
