Furniture retailer getting into the hotel business

West Elm will design and furnish a new line of boutique hotels with the first two locations to open in Detroit and Savannah in late 2018. The furniture retailer, which will also market the hotels, is partnering with DDK, a hospitality firm, which will manage the properties. Guests at the hotels will be able to buy the furniture they find in their rooms and throughout the locations online.
