Giant merger could be bad for dairy farmers and consumers

D.F.A., the largest dairy co-op in the U.S., is exploring a potential acquisition of Dean Foods, a milk processing company that filed for bankruptcy last month. The proposed deal raises antitrust concerns in that the combined company could set milk prices for farmers and consumers alike.
