GOP tax plan to hurt clothing retailers

The Republican tax reform plan, which calls for imports to be taxed while exports are not, could lead to higher prices on goods sold by retailers. Brian McGough, an analyst at Hedgeye Risk Management, concluded in a recent report that apparel retailers could be most at risk as new rules cause prices in the category to rise as much as 15 percent.
