Gymboree files for bankruptcy protection

Gymboree has arranged to borrow $35 million to enable the chain to continue operating while it restructures under Chapter 11. The consultant hired by the retailer this spring suggested the retailer should shutter about 375 of its 1,300 stores. Gymboree has not yet made an announcement on plans to shutter stores.

Waffle House workers in Conyers, Georgia, are now on their third day of striking over what they call the company’s unfair policies. Led by the Union of Southern Service Workers (USSW), Waffle House employees are demanding an end to the mandatory “meal credit” deductions from their paychecks, along with better wages and improved working conditions.
