Hudson’s Bay Co., parent to its namesake chain as well as Lord & Taylor and Saks, has begun preliminary discussions about a possible acquisition of Macy’s. Hudson’s Bay would face challenges in raising the capital needed to complete a deal to acquire its larger department store peer.
