J.C. Penney is looking more like Home Depot

Go with what you know. That may be the adage driving J.C. Penney, led by former Home Depot executive Marvin Ellison, as the department store chain expands into hard goods product categories including appliances, ceiling fans, home safes, power tools and wallpaper. Penney is also testing a bathroom remodeling service and has entered into a heating and air conditioning service partnership with Trane.
