J.C. Penney sells headquarters building

The department store operator has sold its 1.8 million-square-foot headquarters building and the 45 acres that surround it for $353 million. Penney took the action as it seeks to reduce its outstanding debt. The company will continue to house its headquarters in the building, albeit in a smaller footprint than before.
