Jack Daniels asks SCOTUS to protect its trademark from a parody product
March 22, 2023
Jack Daniels wants the Supreme Court to stop VIP Products from making and marketing a dog toy that parodies the whisky company’s label. The Bad Spaniels toy is designed to look like a Jack Daniels bottle but with different wording. The whisky maker’s court brief reads, “Jack Daniel’s loves dogs and appreciates a good joke as much as anyone. But Jack Daniel’s likes its customers even more, and doesn’t want them confused or associating its fine whiskey with dog poop.”
