Kroger’s robotic warehouses will take time to become profitable

Rodney McMullen, CEO of Kroger, told analysts on the grocer’s second-quarter earnings call that it would take two to three years for automated warehouses built by Ocado to become profitable. Kroger has announced plans to open 20 such distribution centers over the next several years.
