Labor Department finds sweatshops operating in LA
Los Angeles Times (tiered sub.) 11/16/2016The Labor Department investigated 77 local garment companies operating factories in Southern California between April and July and found 85 percent had labor violations. Workers at these businesses were paid an average of $7 an hour, $3 below California’s minimum wage, and some made as little as $4 for an hour’s work.
