Lidl’s entry and Aldi’s expansion to heat up U.S. grocery competition

Hard discounters Lidl and Aldi are set to disrupt the U.S. grocery market. Lidl, which will begin opening its first stores in the U.S. today, plans to open 100 locations from New Jersey to Georgia over the next year. Aldi plans to invest $5 billion over the next five years to remodel and open new stores.
