Lululemon founder throws shade on Under Armour’s prospects
January 7, 2020
Chip Wilson, founder and former CEO of Lululemon, sees his former company along with Adidas, Antra Sports and Nike as the major forces in athletic apparel. He is less positive, however about Under Armour. “They got stuck in the Sports Authority bankruptcy. And Nike I think changed its business model to move away from wholesale,” said Mr. Wilson. “I think with Under Armour moving into Kohl’s and being more of a discounter — I think … hitting a very skinny market I would say of 14- to 18-year-old boys — is not big enough to take the market in the future.”
