Macy’s announces holiday hiring plans

Macy’s plans to hire 83,000 workers for the Christmas selling season, a two percent decline from last year, as the department store chain looks to rebound from six straight quarters of declining sales. Macy’s has forecast a decline in same-store sales in the three to four percent range. The chain plans to close 100 of its 880 stores by early next year.
