Macy’s CFO says off-price chains are biggest threat

Karen Hoguet, chief financial officer, says that off-price competitors such as TJX, Burlington and Ross pose the greatest threat to Macy’s. The department store operator has responded by opening its own off-price concept called Backstage, which operates in standalone locations and as branded locations within full-price Macy’s stores.
