Meijer will enter new territory with small urban stores
March 8, 2018
At its 15th annual conference on Tuesday in Grand Rapids, MI, Meijer management discussed plans to open six smaller format stores in urban environments by 2021, representing a new initiative by the retailer to attend to changing shopper lifestyles. The first, to open this summer, will be a 40,000 square-foot store to be called Bridge Street Market, located on Grand Rapids’ West Side. The company will break ground on a second this summer in downtown Detroit, to open in 2019, and begin construction on a third yet unannounced location this year as well.
