New era of retailing lies ahead

Nike’s recent announcement that it would cut the number of retailers that sell its products to focus on partners that create dedicated spaces for the brand is an indication that the traditional retailer-wholesaler model is breaking down, according to the author. Taking its place will be “experiential merchants” that combine online and physical stores to create superior customer experiences that go beyond simply selling products.
