Off-price chains adding stores and market share

Burlington, Ross Stores and TJX plan to open nearly 300 stores combined this year while J.C. Penney, Macy’s and Sears continue to cut their counts. The new stores being opened by the off-price chains are expected to further increase sales in the sector, which achieved sales growth of 39 percent over the last five years, according to Fung Global Retail & Technology.
