Panera breach puts spotlight on loyalty program security

Krebs On Security estimates that around 37 million personal records of members of Panera Bread’s loyalty program may be at risk due to a vulnerability on the chain’s site that remained unfixed for at least eight months. Panera Bread estimates that fewer than 10,000 have been affected. Whatever the number, hackers had access to names, email and physical addresses, birth dates, the last four digits of credit cards.
