August 31, 2017

Colonial Pipeline Co became the second major fuel system to halt transport of fuel from refineries in the Gulf Coast region to the East Coast. The system normally moves more than 3 million barrels of fuel every day.  The company blamed lack of supplies as a result of Hurricane Harvey-related outages. On the announcement, U.S. gasoline prices shot to another two-year high — $1.9350 a gallon.
