RAW

RAW, the global brand of rolling papers and smoking innovations, has announced the resolution of a seven-year court battle with Republic Tobacco.

The judge rejected Republic’s monetary demands, stating that their request for disgorgement of profit was not supported by adequate evidence. The court ruled in favor of RAW, determining that Republic Tobacco had willfully infringed on RAW’s copyright and trade dress. As a result, Republic must pay RAW nearly $1.5 million in total compensation.

RAW intends to donate the net proceeds to organizations supporting small businesses in the cannabis field, particularly those involving individuals previously convicted of nonviolent cannabis-related crimes. The case, which involved claims on state and federal issues, has finally concluded after years of litigation.

RAW hopes that Republic will cease its efforts to harm their business and focus on promoting equity in the emerging cannabis industry.
