Research shows U.S. job losses tied to automation and China
February 22, 2018
Research by Katharine Abraham and Melissa Kearney, economists at the University of Maryland, has found that 1.4 million jobs have been lost since 1999 as a result of automation while 2.65 million have vanished as a result of Chinese imports. Other factors often cited for job losses including immigration, the Supplemental Nutrition Assistance Program and the Affordable Care Act (AKA Obamacare) have had virtually no effect, according to the researchers.
