  • Overall traffic to US Malls Trends Upward So Far in 2026

    Foot traffic to American malls has increased in three distinct categories so far in 2026. Indoor malls saw visits improve by 2.2% during the first quarter, while open-air shopping centers saw traffic improve by 5.1%. Outlet malls saw the most modest growth in visits, up 1.4% (via The Anchor).

  • Ford Recalls Nearly 425,000 Vehicles Over Windshield Wiper Issue

    Ford is recalling ~422,000 vehicles, including Lincoln Navigators, Ford Expeditions, and certain F-series trucks, over issues tied to the windshield wiper. A warning stating that the wiper may fail could be issued by the vehicle, the NHTSA noted (via FOX Business).

    PepsiCo is aware that it had been pricing its snacks too high, with Doritos reaching $7 per bag, and is now engaged in slashing prices. Walmart and other retailers had been telling Pepsi that prices had become untenable for over a year before this decision was made (via Bloomberg).

    Universal Music Group could be acquired by activist investor Pershing Square in a deal worth approximately $64.4 billion. “UMG’s stock price has languished due to a combination of issues that are unrelated to the performance of its music business and importantly, all of them can be addressed with this transaction,” said Pershing Square CEO Bill Ackman (via CNBC).

  • Nvidia, OpenAI Investment Worth $100M Stalls

    Nvidia appears to be hesitating on its former stated plan to invest up to $100 million in OpenAI. Nvidia CEO Jensen Huang said: “It was never a commitment. They invited us to invest up to $100 billion and of course, we were, we were very happy and honored that they invited us, but we will invest one step at a time” (via Yahoo! Finance / Bloomberg).

  • Disney Profit Sees Dent From Film Expenditures

    Disney delivered quarterly results which saw EPS dip by 7%, to $1.63, and operating profit fall by 9%, to $4.6 billion. At least some of the weakness was attributed to expensive film expenditures, including “Tron: Ares” and “Avatar: Fire and Ash” (via The New York Times).

  • Middle-Income US Consumers Struggle To Keep Up

    Nearly three-quarters (68%) of middle-income Americans suggest they are having difficulties keeping up with the cost of living. “Many of them are in a deficit position, they’ve either used savings or credit cards to fill the gap,” Primerica CEO Glenn J. Williams said (via FOX Business).
