Sears Canada chairman may not be able to avert chain’s liquidation

Sears Canada’s board is considering whether executive chairman Brandon Stranzl can keep the retailer going despite plans to close some of the chain’s best stores. Mr. Stranzl has been seeking to put together an offer that may avert an outright liquidation of the company, but may find that the pressure exerted by creditors is too much to overcome.
