Sears chairman makes two offers for retailer

Eddie Lampert, chairman of Sears Holdings, has offered $4.4 billion to acquire 425 stores and keep the retailer operating. If that doesn’t work out, Mr. Lampert has also offered to acquire 250 stores as part of a strategy to partially liquidate the company if advisors to Sears are not satisfied with the first bid.
