The parent company of Jared, Kay Jewelers and Zales said it would increase the speed of store closings as a result of worse than expected holiday sales performance. Forecasts for the jewelry category were expected to rise 3.7 percent during the holiday season compared to 5.1 percent for retail as a whole.
