Tariff to pay for border wall would hit Americans in the pocketbook

A 20 percent tariff on imports from Mexico floated by Donald Trump as a way to reduce imports from that country and help pay for a wall along the southern border of the U.S. would result in much higher prices for American consumers on items including, automotives, beer, produce and snacks. Mr. Trump repeatedly pledged during his campaign that Mexico and not the U.S. would pay for the wall.
