Tesco chairman calls white male board members an ‘endangered species’

John Allan, chairman of Tesco, told an industry conference in England last week that now is a good time to be an ethnic minority, female or “preferably both” when positions open up on corporate boards. Mr. Allan, who thinks white males represent an “endangered species” in corporate boardrooms, said he made the “humorous” statement with the intent of showing the need for diversity in business.
