Trendy neighborhood hit by retail slump

Manhattan’s SoHo neighborhood has gone from being a magnet for retail businesses to a place where rents are dropping as the number of empty storefronts rise. The percentage of available storefronts sits at 23.1 percent today compared to 4.7 percent at the end of 2011.
