U.N. identifies food waste as major source of CO2 emissions

The economic, environmental and social cost of food waste is $2.5 trillion annually, according to a study conducted by the United Nation. Food waste, the U.N. reports, is one of the biggest contributors to carbon dioxide emissions, generating 4.4 gigatons every year.
