Walmart is recapturing grocery share at an ‘accelerating rate’

Walmart took market share aware from traditional supermarkets in the fourth quarter of 2016 as well as the first quarter of 2017, according to Loop Capital analyst Andrew Wolf. The analyst said Walmart outperformed traditional grocers by 1.6 percent in the fourth quarter and 2.9 percent in the first. He estimates Walmart’s current market share of grocery at 21.5 percent.
