Walmart’s Seiyu sale will reduce its presence in Japan

Walmart is largely stepping away from the Japanese market with its sale of Seiyu for $1.65 billion to KKR and Rakuten. The retailer will retain a 15 percent stake in the chain after the transaction is complete. Walmart said it expects to book a non-cash loss of about $2 billion as a result of the sale.
