2026 Acura RSX Makes EV Model Return After the Iconic Badge Spends 20 Years in Retirement

January 15, 2025

If you’re old enough to remember the hype around the Acura RSX the first time it made its rounds in the ’00s, this news may get your motor running.

According to the Acura Newsroom, the 2026 Acura RSX will be built from the ground up by Honda engineers, and will also be the first EV produced at the new Honda EV Hub in Ohio, which is set to begin production later this year.

“The nameplate pays homage to the Acura RSX with its coupe-like silhouette, but it truly represents a forward-looking approach to fun-to-drive performance,” said Mike Langel, assistant vice president, Acura National Sales. “Our second all-electric SUV will solidify our EV credentials even as its ICE stablemates, the all-new ADX, RDX, MDX, TLX and Integra continue to attract new buyers to the Acura brand.”

New Acura RSX Shares Heritage With Honda 0 Saloon and SUV, Along With ASIMO OS

As Car and Driver detailed, the 2026 Acura RSX will share the same EV underpinnings as its companion vehicles, the Honda 0 Saloon and SUV. And while all three models are set to employ the proprietary ASIMO OS — named after the iconic Honda robot debuted 25 years ago — first shown at CES 2025, the Acura RSX will be the first production model to hit showrooms with the OS installed and ready to go.

As for the vehicle’s aesthetics, the prototype shows a coupe-like exterior despite the RSX being classified as a compact SUV (albeit smaller than than its sibling, the ZDX). Aggressively angular headlights, a wedge-shaped front end, and shark-like vents on the rear bumper and behind the front wheels are rounded out by a slim, full-length rear lightbar.

Per Car and Driver, the Acura RSX badge is making a much-anticipated return after its first run, which took place between 2002-2006 in North America, with the vehicle being a rebadged Acura iteration of the Honda Integra sold overseas.

The 2026 Acura RSX is expected to be available for purchase by the general public at some point in 2026.
