5-Hour ENERGY Kicks Up the Heat With a Fiery New Hot Sauce Collaboration
April 25, 2025
For those who love adding a bit of spice to their meals, hot sauce is a must-have. Now, 5-Hour ENERGY is turning up the heat with a bold new collaboration that lets you take your favorite condiment on the go, complete with an extra kick.
This new collaboration between West-Mex legend Taco John’s and 5-Hour ENERGY is perfect for adding flavor and energy to one’s day. Its caffeinated Mango Habanero flavor is a portable accent for any type of meal. The sauce contains a total of 200 milligrams of caffeine, according to Food & Wine.
Per a press release, Leah Key, president and COO of Living Essentials, the makers of 5-Hour ENERGY, shared her thoughts about this new collaboration: “Teaming up with Taco John’s for this ‘sequel’ has been an awesome opportunity to connect with our fans in a fresh, exciting way. The combo of our bold hot sauce and the limited-edition Spicy Cinco de Mango 5-hour ENERGY shot is sure to give #swicy lovers the ultimate flavor experience!”
Kevin Flaherty, CMO of Taco John’s, added, “This portable sauce brings the vibrant, spice-filled flavors of Cinco de Mayo to life, no matter how or where you’re celebrating. We connected instantly with 5-hour ENERGY and their innovative approach, making this partnership truly unique. This sauce isn’t just about heat — it’s about capturing the adventurous spirit of our fans and delivering a fresh culinary experience that brings everyone together.”
Last summer, the brand released a limited-edition Energizing BBQ Sauce. The sauce featured the same peach-mango flavors as the original energy shots, delivering about 60 milligrams of caffeine per serving.
Additionally, the brand is also rolling out a limited-edition Spicy Cinco de Mango 5-Hour ENERGY shot. Customers can purchase Spicy Cinco de Mango on 5hourenergy.com starting April 28 to get a free hot sauce. Customers who patronize Taco John’s near Minneapolis, Milwaukee, Kansas City, and Boston can get a bottle free with any purchase of the eatery’s “No Siesta Fiesta” Bundle, which includes six Fiesta Softshell Chicken Tacos and two Medium Potato Olés.
Why Is 5-Hour ENERGY So Popular Among Customers?
Per Forbes, Manoj Bhargava created 5-Hour ENERGY after seeing a product that promised to boost energy at a California trade show. He told the outlet that his body responded to the unique combination of ingredients immediately. “For the next six or seven hours I was in great shape,” he says. “I thought, wow, this is amazing. I can sell this.”
Just six months later, Bhargava was able to get shots of his energy drink on store shelves. His differed from others like Red Bull because they were small, just 2 ounces of caffeine-infused B vitamins mixed with acids like taurine.
The specific ingredients in the Energy Blend vary slightly between flavors, but typically include vitamins B6, B12, and Niacin, as well as taurine, glucuronolactone, malic acid, N-Acetyl L-Tyrosine, L-Phenylalanine, caffeine, and citicoline. Other ingredients include purified water, natural and artificial flavors, sucralose, potassium sorbate, sodium benzoate, and EDTA.
