Sweetgreen falls short of no landfill pledge, but it’s trying

The Sweetgreen salad chain has long pledged that nothing from its kitchen winds up in landfills. That oath, as it turns out, is not exactly accurate as the chain has run into vendors who have not disposed of waste as agreed upon. Kevin Quandt, Sweetgreen vice president of supply chain and sustainability, said the chain is conducting closer inspections to make sure that its pledge to consumers is being met at all its locations.
