Elon Musk, aside from zoning requirements, is within his legal rights to place beds in Twitter’s offices and demand that salaried workers stay on the job. Requiring workers to stay in the office around the clock, however, points out a flaw in Mr. Musk’s demand that Twitter employees no longer work from home. “If we’ve shown some work can be done remotely, but those employees are mandated to return to the office and then told, ‘Now that you’re at the office, you should also sleep at the office,’ that’s a head-scratcher,” said Liberty Planck, head of remote experience at Gusto.
