Walgreens

Walgreens has announced the winners and finalists of its 13th annual Expressions by Walgreens art challenge. This national contest aims to empower high school students by providing monetary awards for their artistic submissions.

The competition includes four categories: visual arts, media arts, spoken word, and creative writing. Prizes are also awarded to the submissions that receive the most online votes in each category, as well as to the Teacher Champions selected from represented high schools.

This year’s contest received over 4,500 student art submissions from various communities across the United States, with a significant number of entries addressing topics such as school shootings and mental health. The contest also saw a record-breaking 46,000 votes for the People’s Champ winners. Expressions by Walgreens seeks to offer a platform for teenagers to express themselves through art and harness the therapeutic benefits of self-expression.

The program has reached approximately one million high school students since its inception in 2009, with over $375,000 awarded in monetary prizes.

Walgreens, as an integrated healthcare, pharmacy, and retail leader, aims to create more joyful lives through better health and operates nearly 9,000 retail locations across the United States.
