New Bright Screen Privacy Filters from 3M Help Increase Compliance

3M

IT managers now have a solution to improve privacy-policy compliance with the introduction of 3M’s Bright Screen Privacy Filters for laptops. These filters enhance screen brightness by 25 percent compared to standard “black” privacy filters, addressing a common issue of darkened screens that can affect viewing experiences and worker productivity. The new filters utilize nanolouver film technology, backed by 11 patents, to black out angled views for onlookers while remaining virtually invisible for device users. This technology not only protects sensitive data but also provides an improved viewing experience, increasing the likelihood of workers using the filters. A recent study conducted by 3M found that the Bright Screen Privacy Filters provided a brighter display for nearly 9 in 10 professionals and 7 in 10 wouldn’t have noticed the filter if not told it was on their screen. The filters are designed to be thin, maintaining touch responsiveness, and have a matte surface to reduce glare and hide fingerprints. They are currently available for various laptop models, with plans to expand the line to other devices. These privacy filters offer a practical solution for maintaining privacy in both office and public spaces, catering to the growing number of remote or hybrid workers.
