August 25, 2023
Dollar Tree and Family Dollar stores have entered a new companywide settlement with the Occupational Safety and Health Administration (OSHA), under which they must rectify safety issues like blocked fire exits and unsafe stacking of materials within 48 hours or face a $100,000 daily fine. The agreement is in response to years of complaints about dangerous conditions in their stores and backrooms. The stores’ parent company, Dollar Tree, Inc, will also implement safety policies, procedures, and training and hire more safety staff, and they’ve agreed to pay $1.35 million in penalties to settle similar alleged violations.
