California’s Food Safety Act, a bill aimed at banning certain food additives, including those found in popular snacks like Skittles, has passed through the state’s legislature and is now on its way to Governor Gavin Newsom. If enacted, this law would come into effect in 2027 and prohibit ingredients already banned in other countries for their potential health risks. The bill targets additives like brominated vegetable oil, potassium bromate, propylparaben, and red dye No. 3, with companies facing fines for noncompliance.
