Carnival Cruise Line Gets Ready for Celebration Key
March 27, 2024
Carnival Cruise Line is gearing up for the grand opening of Celebration Key, its newest cruise destination on Grand Bahama, scheduled for July 2025. Today, the company unveiled the details for two of the five portals: Paradise Plaza and Calypso Lagoon.
Paradise Plaza, located just a short stroll from the ship, promises a vibrant welcome with its colorful promenade and a striking sun-shaped arch, perfect for snapping photos. Live music fills the air, setting the tone for an unforgettable experience. The highlight? A magnificent 10-story-high Suncastle, igniting excitement for the paradise that awaits beyond. Guests can explore various options, from relaxing in cabanas to engaging in water sports or shore excursions. And for those seeking refreshments, a Bahamian-themed fountain and ice cream shop await.
Adjacent to Paradise Plaza lies Calypso Lagoon, catering to adults seeking a lively social scene. With activities ranging from visiting the sports court to lounging in the largest freshwater lagoon in the Caribbean, there’s something for everyone. Swinging bars offer stunning views, while additional bars scattered around the lagoon ensure no guest goes thirsty. Plus, two full-service restaurants and casual snack shacks provide culinary delights against the backdrop of the beautiful Bahamian beach.
A section of Calypso Lagoon and the nearby beach will be designated for adults only, featuring a swim-up bar and DJ to keep the energy high. Bahamian food trucks, cabanas, daybeds, and loungers complete the experience.
Christine Duffy, president of Carnival Cruise Line, expressed excitement about the creative design of each portal. Alongside Paradise Plaza’s welcoming ambiance, Calypso Lagoon offers diverse options while celebrating Bahamian culture.
In addition to these portals, Carnival plans to unveil a family-friendly portal, a private retreat, and a retail area. Details on these will be shared soon, along with plans for a waterpark in the second phase of the destination’s development.
July 2025 marks the debut of Celebration Key, with over 500 itineraries featuring visits to the new destination. A total of 18 ships from 10 U.S. homeports are set to call on Celebration Key through spring 2026.
