Chipotle Tees Up Green Burrito Wrappers for Masters Week
April 11, 2024
Chipotle, the fast-food retailer from California, has announced a new promotional stunt for golf’s biggest event, the Masters Tournament. In a move sure to thrill both golf fans and burrito enthusiasts alike, Chipotle is rolling out limited-edition green-foil-wrapped burritos at one of its outlets in Augusta, Georgia, where the tournament is taking place.
The special green wrappers will only be up for grabs until April 14, exclusively at the Chipotle located at 229 Robert C Daniel Jr Pkwy.
Adding to the hype, Chipotle has also struck a partnership with professional golfer Max Homa, who is not only competing in the tournament but also carrying the Chipotle logo on his golf bag throughout the 2024 season.
Homa, a six-time PGA Tour winner, has been a vocal Chipotle fan since way back in 2013 when he tweeted about his love for the brand.
Chipotle’s chief brand officer, Chris Brandt, explained, “During the week of an event, it’s common to see various players at the closest Chipotle because we’ve become a go-to meal for pro golfers.” He expressed hopes that the green foil burritos in Augusta will bring good luck to Homa and other pro golfers munching on Chipotle’s tasty offerings.
Homa is part of Chipotle’s Real Food for Real Athletes program, aimed at providing athletes with nutritious meals made from real ingredients. The program boasts 13 athletes from various sports, including soccer, track and field, and basketball.
As the 88th Masters Tournament kicks off on April 11, featuring 106 golf masters and pros, including the legendary Tiger Woods, anticipation is high. The winner will not only take home the coveted trophy but also a substantial cash prize — last year’s champion pocketed a cool $3.24 million.
Chipotle’s move to align with the sporting world reflects its understanding of its core demographic, the ever-influential 20-somethings, who are shaping trends in culture, including sports.
